These "plushies" as they came to be known, took over the world, becoming one of the most popular toys among children and adults alike.
But where did plushies come from? And how did they become so popular?
Stuffed animal was created in 1870 by a German woman named Margarete Steiff. Steiff created a small elephant out of mohair-covered felt and it was an instant hit. Steiff went on to create many other animals, and her company is still in business today.
